Transportation Expenses in Shanghai (2009 Edition)

Bus:

Most bus routes are charged in one price: 2 RMB. However some buses to satellite cities of Shanghai are higher (4 RMB to 20RMB) and their prices are dependent on distances you travel.

And some non-air-conditioned buses are 1 RMB, but they are less now.

Subway & Light rail:

Subway ticket price starts from 3 RMB, and up to 8 RMB dependent on distances you travel.

Taxi:

Taxi is paid by meters and starts 11RMB for first 3km and then 2.1RMB per km after that.

If you take the taxi from 11pm to 5am, night fare applied which 13RMB for the first 3km and 2.6RMB per km after that.

Ferry:

Ferry costs 2 RMB (with air-condition), and some are 50 cents or 1 RMB. Most ferries are used to crossing Huangpu river which has separated Shanghai into several districts.
