On April 30, 2009, Shanghai Metro System is overloaded with a record high number of passengers, all the metro lines carrying more than 4.42 million passengers daily.
Passengers mainly are commuters, tourists, and bargain shoppers.
Each Metro Line traffic has been recorded as follows:
Metro Line No. 1: 1.30 million
Metro Line No. 2: 1.04 million
Metro Line No. 3: 0.55 million (New Record High)
Metro Line No. 4: 0.70 million (New Record High)
Metro Line No. 5: 0.13 million (New Record High)
Metro Line No. 6: 0.18 million (New Record High)
Metro Line No. 8: 0.37 million (New Record High)
Metro Line No. 9: 0.15 million (New Record High)
